Rakiraki town flooded

Rakiraki town is closed because of flooding.

Naqoro Flats, Gallau Road and FSC Road are all flooded making the town area inaccessible.

Heavy rain overnight has led to the flooding this morning.

In Nausori, Waila feeder road is under three meters of flood water, with more than 50 homes affected in the surrounding area with water levels in the Rewa river rising.

A flood warning remains in force for a number of low lying areas that includes low lying areas and areas adjacent to Wailotua and Nayavu station and areas downstream of Wainibuka river, low lying areas and small streams for Vanua Levu and Central and Eastern Division, low lying areas and areas adjacent to Rewa Bridge Station and Downstream of Nausori Town.

For those in living in these areas, please take every precaution to move to higher safer ground. High tide is scheduled for 11.40am.

This is coupled with a strong wind warning in force for all land areas for Fiji.

Tropical Depression 04F remains to the far west of Fiji, associated cloud and showers continue to affect the country.
